During the second quarter, my students will be given the driving question - How can you design a space on a dime? Students will be collaborating with a few partners in order to build a space according to many math concepts such as: surface area, area, perimeter, tax, discount, scale factor, and proportions. As students develop a plan of action, peer discussions and review will take place to stretch thinking. During this process, students will be building a 3-d model of the space they designed based upon a budget derived from national salaries. Students are able to spend 15% of their yearly income. More will come as the date arrives for this project. VERY EXCITED and I cannot wait.
